மனுக்குலம் தன்னை மீட்க மானிடனாக வந்த -உனக்கு

1.தாய் மகளுக்காக சாவாளோ - கூடப் பிறந்த
தமையன் தம்பிக்காய் மாய்வானோ?
நேயன் நேயர்க்காய் சாவானோ? தனதுயிரை
நேர் விரோதிக்காய் ஈவானோ?
நீ இம் மண்ணுலகில் நீசர்கட்காக வந்து
காயும் மனமடவர்க்காக மரித்தாய் சுவாமி .- உனக்கு .
2. கந்தை உரிந்தெறிந்தனை - நீதியின் ஆடை
கனக்க உடுத்துவித்தனை,
மந்தையில் சேர்த்துவைத்தனை , கடும் வினைகள்
மாற்றி எந்தனைக் காத்தனை;
கந்த மலர்ப் பாதனே ,கனக ரத்ன மேருவே ,
சிந்தை உவந்து வந்த தியாக ராசனே , சுவாமி - உனக்கு
Rev.L. Ponnusamy is my grandfather who came to know Christ from a vaishnavite family. His father Mr.Laksmanan was a hindu priest in Govindasamy temple.During his childhood his Teacher and Patron Mr. Edwin Powers of American Madura Mission led him Christ. His family is one of the families migrated from North Trinelveli to Cumbum Valley of Madurai District due to heavy drought during 1870s.He got a Bible fro Mr.Edwin Powers and started reading every day. In the mean while two of their cows died due to Comari disease. His father thought that it took place because of the Scripture which his son is having. So he burnt the scripture without having any second thought.Just after this incident he passed away all on a sudden by an unknown disease.
ReplyDeleteThen his children were under the care of the Missionaries and they brought them up in Christian faith.As a vishnavite descendent he could understand the supremacy of Christ.So he wrote his first song on the supremacy of Christ by starting Unnakku Nigaranavar Yaar?. He ended the song with the word Thiagarajan as the Thiagarajar Keerthanai ends. Because no other God in the word is apt to be called as Thiagarajan which means one who gave his all to mankind. That is the reality behind the song.
